Gate Down? We Fix That.
A stuck gate strands your car, leaves your property open, or locks out your tenants, and it never happens at a convenient time. AD Security, Inc. has repaired automatic gates across Los Angeles County since 2004: sliding, swing, tilt-up, roll-up, and barrier gates, on operators from every major manufacturer, whether or not we installed them. Most no-open and no-close calls trace back to a handful of causes our technicians check in minutes; see the 8 most common gate failures for what you can safely check yourself before calling. For planned upkeep instead of a breakdown, our gate installation and service page covers the full picture.
What Is Your Gate Doing?
Won't Open or Close
Dead silence or a clicking operator usually points to power, a tripped breaker, a failed transformer, or a locked-out control board.
- Power and breaker diagnosis
- Control board testing
- Transformer replacement
- Manual release service
Stuck Open
A gate that refuses to close is almost always a safety system doing its job too well: photo eyes, loops, or reversing edges.
- Photo eye alignment and replacement
- Ground loop and loop detector repair
- Reversing edge diagnosis
- Obstruction sensitivity adjustment
Remotes & Keypads Dead
When clickers stop working one by one or all at once, the fix ranges from reprogramming to receiver replacement.
- Remote programming and pairing
- Receiver and antenna repair
- Keypad and telephone entry service
- Interference troubleshooting
Off Track or Grinding
Grinding, dragging, or a gate that jumps its track is mechanical wear that gets expensive the longer it runs.
- Roller and track replacement
- Chain and belt adjustment
- Hinge and pivot repair
- Gate realignment and welding
Stops Partway
Travel that stops short usually means limit switches, obstruction sensing, or an operator struggling against a binding gate.
- Limit switch adjustment
- Force and sensitivity calibration
- Operator load testing
- Track and hinge lubrication
Storm or Impact Damage
Vehicle strikes, fallen branches, and power surges take gates out without warning. We rebuild, rewire, and re-secure.
- Post and panel straightening
- Surge damage board replacement
- Welding and fabrication repair
- Insurance documentation support
Gate Operator Brands We Repair

Our technicians carry diagnostic tools and common parts for LiftMaster, DoorKing (DKS), FAAC, Viking Access Systems, Nice, HySecurity, All-O-Matic, Elite, Mighty Mule (GTO), and USAutomatic operators. If your brand is not listed, call anyway: if parts are still made for it, we can usually fix it.
How a Repair Call Works
Call us and describe what the gate is doing, or not doing. A gate stuck open or closed gets priority scheduling, and emergency service is available after hours. On site, the technician diagnoses the failure, walks you through what they found, and gives you a written price with no hidden fees before any work begins, so you decide with the full picture in front of you.
Most common repairs, including photo eyes, remotes, limit switches, rollers, and loop detectors, are completed the same visit from parts stocked on the truck. Larger jobs like operator replacements or fabrication work are scheduled promptly, and we secure the gate in a safe position in the meantime.
Repair or Replace?
We repair what is worth repairing. But when an operator is past ten to twelve years old, parts are discontinued, or it predates UL 325 safety requirements for entrapment protection, continued repairs can cost more than a modern operator that is safer, quieter, and warrantied. When that is the honest math, we will show you both numbers and let you choose; see our gate installation page for what a replacement involves, and our maintenance guide for keeping a healthy gate that way.
What Our Repair Clients Say
"Our gate got stuck wide open at 9 PM on a Sunday and I was picturing the driveway open all week. They walked me through securing it that night and had a tech out the next morning. Turned out to be the photo eyes, fixed in one visit."
"We manage a gated complex in Pomona and the sliding gate had been limping along for months. AD Security replaced the rollers and straightened the track. It took a second visit because a part had to be ordered, but the price matched the written quote to the dollar."
"A power surge killed our 15-year-old operator. Instead of just selling us the most expensive fix, they quoted the board repair and a full replacement side by side and explained why the old unit wasn't worth saving. New operator is quieter than the old one ever was."
Gate Repair Questions
It depends on what failed. Small fixes like photo eye realignment, remote programming, or a limit switch adjustment sit at the low end; motor, gearbox, or control board replacements cost more. What we can promise is the process: a technician diagnoses the actual failure on site and you get a written price with no hidden fees before any work begins.
Yes. A gate stuck open all night or a car trapped in a driveway is exactly what our after-hours emergency service exists for. Call (626) 421-7250; regular hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with emergency response available outside them.
All the time. Most of our repair calls are for gates installed by other companies, and it makes no difference to the service you get. We work on all major operator brands and can source parts for most systems still supported by their manufacturers.
The most common culprits, in roughly the order we check them: power or a tripped breaker, blocked or misaligned photo eyes, dead remote batteries or a failed receiver, limit switch problems, a binding track or hinge, and operator lockout after repeated obstructions. Several are safe to check yourself; our guide to the 8 most common gate failures walks through each one.
Repair usually wins when the operator is under ten years old and parts are available. Replacement starts making sense when parts are discontinued, the same component keeps failing, or the operator lacks modern UL 325 entrapment protection. When you're at that line, we quote both options in writing so you can compare the real numbers.
Gates stuck open or closed get priority scheduling, and emergency after-hours response is available for urgent situations. For routine repairs we typically respond within 24 hours on business days. We're based in Covina and cover Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego Counties.
